Kathryn has had formal training in ballet since the age of 3 and had an 8 year career dancing professionally with Smuin Ballets/SF, State Street Ballet and SF Opera Ballet. While dancing she searched for a fitness routine outside of the stress and competition of the dance world. Pilates was it. While attending college at UC Santa Cruz, she went on to receive her certification through the Physical Mind Institute with Tom McCook and has been teaching ever since. She cracks the whip on technique, so you might hate her during class, but you’ll thank her after. She has taught throughout the Bay Area, Manhattan, and Brooklyn.
She also teaches Yoga and has a certification through Mount Madonna working with guru Babi Hari Dass. When not teaching, Kathryn loves cats, coffee and shopping. She still, on occasion, continues her love of performing in dance and theatre.
Karen is a physical therapist and athletic trainer who learned Pilates from taking classes herself and through continuing education. She comes from a physical therapy perspective and emphasizes neutral spine position and awareness.
